I attempted, along with several graduate students, to create a Mario-esque game in the Unreal Development Kit this semester as a part of our independent study. As the resident level designer, I was responsible for the level, but also found myself doing plenty of coding as the presentation day loomed. I learned a thing or two about communicating with others about work, as well as how to do some basic things in UnrealScript. At the end, we had coins, mystery boxes, some basic AI, and items such as the mushroom powerup working. Overall a good experience.
